A few weeks ago Brien stayed up late several nights slaving away to make the perfect washers game, aka poor man's horse shoes, and we have busted it out at every family event since. Yes, just add catnip, and it looks like a cat scratch post or something of the like, but there are plans for a face lift in the near future. A little paint will go a long way. I'll post pics when Brien gets around to dressing it up and highlight the details then.
Up to four people can play with two on each team. Team members stand on opposite sides and take turns tossing their washers, aiming for the holes. When the washer lands in the hole, you get a set number of points, 1 for the first hole, 3 for the second, 5 for the third. Anyhow, there are many rules that allow you to add and deduct points, but the object is to be the first team to score 21 points. It's actually very entertaining, and perfect for tailgating.
This weekend we first played washers on Friday night at our OSU Cowgirl Soccer tailgate (followed by the OSU football cookout at Katy's and Scott's Saturday and Pat and Heidi Roy's house warming party on Sunday... You get the picture. This game doesn't get old - so far).
Here are a few more pictures from our time tailgating:

The Cowgirls played the #13 ranked Memphis Tigers and won 2-1, but not before we got to witness our halftime entertainment provided by Tom Cat Moose (Brien's youngest brother, Tommy - still not sure why he used that name to enter). The video is provided here, courtesy of Scott. Tommy really started to get the hang of it toward the end. Must have been all that bonding with his hamster, Greenfield. He said the trick is to take big, high steps along the ball in front of you as you are running, just in case you ever get picked for such a spectacle. He's closest to the camera.
Visiting with Kristen after the game
When the game was over we headed to Mama Joe's and Grandad's (Brien's grandparents) house in Stillwater for some delicious homemade sheet cake and ice cream - Yum! What a perfect end to our evening. Thanks, Mama Joe!
