Brien's Mom, Theresa, has many different talents, one which is cutting hair. As the mother of eight, she has had lots of practice, saving their family buckets of money over several decades. And, of course, each of her boys has a story of the time she botched his hair while perfecting her skills. We are grateful that after giving countless haircuts and catching endless grief, Mrs. Kelley is still available and willing to break out her scissors and clippers to give Brien and her grandchildren an occasional trim to help us out.
Cutting hair is a lot harder than it looks - especially when squirming children are involved. At the beginning of this summer I thought I'd give cutting Connor's hair a go - a total disaster that ended with a buzz cut by Theresa to remedy the mess of Connor's hair I'd made. Afterward, when Connor first saw himself in the mirror, he freaked out since he looked so different, but we quickly convinced him he had cool "swimming hair" like Uncle Tommy, who he loves. (We actually call Connor "Contommy" sometimes because he looks a lot like Tommy and his middle name is Thomas.) Now he's eager to get his swimming hair each time Mrs. Kelley breaks out the clippers. Cooper, on the other hand, doesn't quite share Connor's excitement, as you can see from the tear resting on his cheek, but he was his happy self again in no time and looking cuter than ever.
